Depending on year, it is a software fix available for BCM on 2003 to help BCM go to "sleep" to prevent excessive battery draw.
Make sure you have all the latest software updates in all different computers just to minimize the chances that it is only a software glitch.
Not all cars drain the battery when key is left in ignition but I have seen some posts here and there about it happening. Leaving it if off instead of the lock position might leave modules awake in the car.
They say the same thing about the newer Volvos to not leave the key in ignition, but I haven't seen a clear cut pattern of the Volvos always draining the battery if it is done.
Most of the time it can be traced to a flaky battery that goes short circuit all by itself or a module in the car that decides to "burn the midnight oil" and not go to sleep.
