The best engines, the best equipment possibilites including the nav, premium/touring and convience packages, improved interiors (premium package wood accents for example) and the best pricing and leases ever, IMHO, and a really cool SportCombi too, make the 2006 9-3 line a candidate for the best Saab ever.
2003's, the 1st year, did have a learning curve. Software issues weren't resolved many times effectively because of the software and because of the technical understanding of the problems. Hard parts have been really good, nothing at all mechanical. Some door and door pillar rattles for some, some tire pressure monitor issues for 2004's with 17" wheels, but that's a good example of the techs understanding the system to fix it correctly the first time. Some defective key remotes were a headache too, but no *remaining* issues, that is no achilles heel. No singular improvement that makes a 2003 9-3SS obsolete or undesireable.
2006 is now the 4th model year and the cars are the best ever and aren't causing any headaches at all.
