We now lease a 06 93SC, 2.0T

I have had a string of BMWs, including a 528iT, which we loved. Sadly the lease was up, and it had issues that we did not want to own as they would be costly in the near term.

We then compared the A3, A4, BMW 3, Mercedes C, Dodge Magnum (?) and the SAAB 3. Our criteria was space (it had to accomodate 1 car seat and two boosters), fuel efficiency, handling (but not speed)and value. (In nearly that order).

To be honest, the A4 was my first choice but we could not locate an A4 avant in the timeframe we needed. The reason this was first is the fit and finish of the materials in the Audi are better than the SAAB though when comparing the leases at the time, there was not much of a gap.

THe BMW 3 was too costly for the product and frankly not quite big enough.(and the pricing of the 5 series, and the devilish Idrive made that a no go too)

The Dodge was nice, but trimmed to a level we sought was costly and it was a pig on gas which would be a problem right about now.

MB pricing was irrational and did not fit the car seat issue.

We chose the SAAB as it fit the bill and is fun to drive in ways I had not expected. The cargo room is great and the handling is sprited.

A critique from my wife is the layout of the radio. This will be addressed in the next model year. Also, the materials used for the dash should be better particularly in the ww/diectional stalk which is really flimsy in feel, (the cost differential has to come somewhere I suppose)
