I was looking at spending up to $20K and figured I would end up with a CPO 2004 or maybe a 2005. He offered a deal of $23500 for a 9-3, that only had cold weather on it. I decided that I would prefer the premium package and an auto and I started to look at the CPO vehicles again. He comes back and offers $22900 on any one of 6 service demos with 7500 to 9000 miles on them.
I had 3 months left on my current GMAC lease, so I was able to get out of it early if I purchased a new GM product. That, combined with that fact that it was costing me .15 cents a mile since I had just exceeded my mileage, and I was sold.
Turned out there were only 3 cars that hadn't been "punched" yet, so they were the only ones that could still be sold as new. I ended up with a silver 9-3 Auto, premium, cold weather, sunroof, ($32165 sticker) for $22K even. Still titled as new, got out of the my lease early and my insurance dropped $200/ year. (The car I got out of was a Pontiac GTO - Got an even better deal on it, but that's an off-topic story)
Dealer sold the remaining vehicles to enterprise down the street he claimed for the same $22K each. Told me I had to accept the offer within 48 hours or they would all be gone.
