Without OnStar or Nav, that isn't an antenna. Its a fancy rubber plug. There are no wires coming out of it. It cannot be used for anything.
I put my XM antenna under the cover of the rear shelf. Its pretty close to the base of the window and works well there. I have had reception issues farther north (I'm in southern CA). You might want to consider another location if you live in a northern area.
