I had a Golf TDI which I traded for my 9-3... I am happy with the change but I miss the diesel. The TORQUE! The MILAGE! I so wish SAAB would bring the Tdi to the States. On the other hand, it is nice to not have to worry about filling the tank with crappy fuel. I used to drive 20 miles out of town to get decent diesel.... Hopefully the situation will change soon. Here the VW TDI owners have to pull the intake manifold every 30K-60K to clean out the crud that builds up as a result of our crappy fuel. I hear VW should be selling TDI in the states again in 2008, and if they offer a wagon I may be tempted, but I prefer Saabs in every other way... And now that VW has gone upmarket, there is no longer any real price difference. Only real advantage on VW TDI is the resale/residual. I was able to trade my 2 year old car in with 20K miles on the clock for just $1,500 under what I paid for it new.
Ive got an auto, so no remarks about the manual trans. I woulda preferred a stickshift but there were none available around here and I am teaching someone to drive soon...
At least your telephone system works in your car! In the US it is an inoperable system. Wish they had made the buttons do something else since I cant link my phone to the car anyway.
