A friend of mine with an '03 Arc had a dead battery one morning and tried to jump the car with his wife's Honda Odyssey. The jump didn't work so he needed a flatbed to the dealer for a battery replacement. The sound system was dead and the dealer replaced an amp under warranty also. He recalled that he didn't think to turn off the sound system prior to the jump. Around a month later the battery in my '03 Arc died, but when I jumped it I turned off the sound system and pulled some fuses front and back just to play it safe. My sound system was fine after the dealer replaced battery under warranty. The jump in my office parking lot was unsuccessful- I had bright interior lights, etc. but the engine wouldn't respond at all, as if some relay had cut out the starter circuit. The battery worked fine one hour before when I started the car to move it from the far end of the parking lot to a spot near the door. The OEM batteries are very 'interesting'- work fine one time and then the next start they are stone cold dead (in my case one hour later).
