I don't think the cars will survive lowering the oil change interval from roughly 15,000 mile to 7,500.
Ok, that's a lot of sarcasm in that statement and if you haven't followed the oil change discussion war (the hoily war)on these bulletin boards you might not get it.
A lot of different car makers are battling oil problems and sludge and the common attack now is that they are lowering the mileage between recommended oil changes just like the independant shops have been promoting all along.
Using high quality full synthetic oil and long oil change intervals work for some drivers that drive their cars in a certain way but for many, it is not good for the engine to stretch the oil changes up in the 15K range if they do a lot of stop and go traffic and hot climate.
Some people also use quick lube places where they receive the "flavor of the day" oil that is not designed for long intervals but the driver keep using it for that purpose anyway.
