I have had a 2007 sedan for a year now and have had no problems with the radio. Compared to the prior model (which was a joke in terms of sound quality and functionality) this radio is a vast improvement, IMHO. True, if the sun is shining though the rear window the glare makes seeing the display difficult. Fortunatly this is rare and would happen for any upper dash mounted radio with a plastic faceplate. I do not experience much dust and thus do not clean the faceplate much at all and have no scratches. I'm guessing that with an open top road grit is dusting your interior and then frequent cleaning is causing scratches in your case. The glare from an open top certainly could be much worse. Sounds like they should have gone w/ a different radio for the convertables.
