I have been reading about the noise you hear before it closes in on wearing out. I have noticed in the last 10k sometimes (cold of hot weather) when I start the car I get a pretty loud knocking for about 30 seconds. I raised the hood and located the knock to be underneath the the plastic saab engine cover. I am guessing it is perhaps a valve sticking of some kind. I don't see that to be a big problem since it goes away after about 30 seconds. I am good on light scheduled maintainance by always keeping the oil changed and I allow the motor time to warm up so I don't believe it is from neglect. I'm not sure where the chain is located but I'm almost positive its not at the top of the motor so I'm guessing I can say with certainty that the knocking is just a valve maybe sticking or whatever it is they do. I've read the tensioner can be checked pretty easily and I'm guessing the chain as well. Thanks.
