Well I personally do not prefer "japanese style", actually I think most of their interiors are hideous...especially Lexus. No matter what they build I still think of asian cars as tin boxes.
That said the c900 interior was made of cheap plastic and thin pieces that squeaked and rattled. I can't tell you how many times I took the dash and doors apart and put them back together trying to get rid of rattles and noises. Now the seats in the c900 were much better than current models.
Maybe my c900 was one that was built on a Monday morning. Sounds like your experience has been different. I also had 4 9000's and found their interiors to be much better than the c900's. My NG900's interior was pretty solid to....much more solid than my 2007 9-3. My NG900 never had any creak/rattle problem at all.
I've not owned a BMW from that vintage, but I always resent the comparison as if BMW is a benchmark of some sort. I've not been overly impressed by most BMW's I've been in.
I actually rented an Infinity G-class 2 years ago and drove it on a 500 mile road trip. It was nice, but I agree it is VERY NOISY on the interior. Also I really thought the dash switched were cheap and the flat center console with switches on it just collected tons of dirt and junk in the grooves which resulted in it being difficult to keep clean. Personally, it's a nice car but I was not impressed.
End of rant. Not trying to be argumentative...just good conversation.
