No, I never thought this car would hold it's value. As with the two others I had, the value tanks.
No depression either, got a month long trip planned in April... Shopping for a weekend convertible for the summer and my job is secure. Lota to be thankful for.
As for the ebay sale, I have no use for this car amymore. It's been replaced with another sensible four door as my pricical means of transport. It's listed with the hope that somebody wants it. If it sells for a resonable price, great. If not, oh well. It can sit in my garage for 10 years.
The point was what exacxtly what you said about the old cars that went away. If GM sells SAAB and it goes away, 10-20 years from now when only the enthusiasts remember these cars we will have something special and unique. The horrible dealer service, low resale value, parts sharing with Saturn, creeks, rattles and elecrtical gremlins will be almost forgotten. At that point I can enjoy these cars again.
As for now it just reminds me of why GM and other american car companies are failing. It's embarassing what happened to a great little niche company. We asked for a hatchback and four wheel drive, we get a
Trailblazer and Impreza with with a Griffin on the hood. We ask for efficient 4 cyl turbos, they give us an Opel V6. The failure of this company would be the best thing that ever happened to it, aside from being taken over by the Swedish government in 1990.
It's really only a discussion or opinion for that matter. If SAAB flounders or flourishes it's not going to effect my day to day life one bit. I find it interesting what others think of a once good little company that built great little cars has been reduced to... a badge engineered souless appliance that really stopped doing a good job in 2000.
