So far the V-6 has been very reliable. The only real common issue is the coolant expansion tanks leaking. There's a new service campaign (15460) to replace the plastic tank with a new tank (feels like its made of ceramic material). The tanks and plastic parts like the battery cover really get stressed from the heat of the turbo right next to them. Part of the campaign is to also update the engine ECM with new software for longer cooling fan operation after shutting the car off to help reduce the heat soak.
The only real problem with the V-6 is the amount of room to work on it. If you a do-it-yourselfer its not a good engine for that. I would also make sure it's a CPO car. SAAB CPO cars have a great warranty.
