IMO:
The most practical is the 2.0 - and if it must be AWD, then make it so. Bear in mind that XWD does precious little to enhance mobility or safety. What it is really for (this is all IMO) is 1) to enhance dry road performance, and 2) for bragging rights in advertising copy. Anyway, the 2.0T has ample performance in FWD application. If the extra weight and friction (and traction) from XWD seems to make it bog down, then $800 to genuine Saab brings a BSR PPC box that adds some 40 hp and 30 or 40 ft. lb. of torque. And there's a 2.0 Sport that has the Aero seats, IIRC.
Moving up the food chain, the Aero adds considerable smoothness as well as more performance. The TurboX, more panache and a little more performance, collectability, more bent rims and more expensive tires. If it's your parents' 2nd car, the bent rims are less of a problem.
No matter which, if it's a factory car, spring for certification - it adds 2 years to the warranty. Warranty starts on the "in service" date, not the date of manufacture.
