John,
Thanks for the reply, and I hear you.
In this case, I'm not being finicky. I've had SAABs for years and I know they all have quirks.
This isn't a quirk. And I know what it feels like when the tranny kicks down two gears instead of one. THIS IS A CAR SHAKING THUMP.
It has enough intensity in terms of jerk force that everyone who has noticed it has commented, and it certainly feels as though eventually something physical will be damaged by the jerk. (I'm not talking about myself when I say 'jerk' :)
The reason I'm trying to find others who have experienced this is that while it is intermittent and a test drive will likely not reveal it, it's reasonable to assume it's serious.
I read the AW transmission doc that another member kindly posted (thanks!!) and will ask them to 'zero the adapts' using a tech 2 and maybe that will do it, but my gut says it's mechanical.
Thanks for the insight, and I'm still eager to hear from anyone else who has had this problem and identified a solution, just in case it's not a software issue.
Earl
