I have a 2006 9-3 SC with 44K miles and a 2010 9-3 SS with 4K miles. Both are manuals.
Yes, the '10 appears quieter and appears to handle better but I don't know how much of that is a function of the wagon vs. sedan design.
As for trading a car with 43K miles for a car with 58K miles plus cash I wouldn't do it, especially through CarMax which, IMHO, overprices their cars by at least 10%.
I'd stay with the lower mileage car for now.
