Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Issue Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Wed, 13 Apr 2011 13:18:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
05 9-3SS Aero 4cyl M/T.
Car came in with ESP code C0050 06. Right rear wheel speed sensor.
Owner had tried to resolve issues himself after seeing ESP, TCS, and ABS warning on SID. Assumed it would be ABS control module and swapped just the module. Of course the car didn't like that and activated the immobilizer and steering column lock. Owner re-installed old module and had the car towed here.
Cleared all DTC's and the only code that returned was the ABS right rear wheel speed sensor code. Threw a SKF wheel bearing/speed sensor assembly at it and the code is still there.
A few things are odd. When you look at the ESP values on the Tech 2 while driving all wheel speed sensors stay at 1mph. Do they just stop reading if the ABS light is on? I checked for voltage at the harnesses on both rear sensors and the left will briefly give a reading of .5 volts when the key is switched on, the right does not do anything.
Next step is to check for continuity in the circuit form the control module to the sensor. Assuming that's good, I'm thinking it does have to be a failed control module. Not sure if the owner could have messed something up when changing it originally. Anyone experience anything like this before on the 9-3SS?
Best,
-Chad
