Alternator Charge Message Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Sun, 17 Apr 2011 14:58:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I replaced the alternator (bad bearing) in my 93 03 Vector and now my SID displays a message indicating my alternator isn't charging. I replaced the original alternator with a remanufactured Bosch alternator. I checked the connections and then measured the voltage from the alternator post to ground to be 14.2v (engine running).
I drove the car around the block a few times, and verified the system was indeed charging. I drove another 15 miles with no incident. Is the ECM tolerance for alternator voltage small? Is this a common problem with aftermarket/remanned alternators?
I suspect the remanned alternator is faulty, but I'd appreciate any advice before I have to deal with ripping it out and sending it back to the store.
