I've had 4 cars over the years with the problem you described. They all had broken balance shaft chain tensioners. The back plate on the tensioner that holds the spring in falls out (its peened into the body of the tensioner) and then the tensioner collapses and the plastic chain guide that the tensioner pushes on usually breaks. The very first one I had, had a broken engine mount and I thought that was the problem. Of coarse it still vibrated after changing the mount. The great thing about this engine is it's really easy to pull off the timing cover to inspect. on all of them, I just replaced the broken tensioner and plastic guide that the tensioner pushes on everything else looked ok. Of course if it's a high milage car and you see lots of wear in there, then you'll want to do the chain, gears and guides. Of coarse if you go that far, then a new timing chain and parts would be a good idea.
