Re: Squealing New Brakes... Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Squealing New Brakes..., SWEDECAR ![]() ![]() |
The brake shield is not on this picture but you might see it peeking in through the rims of the car behind the brake rotor.
If you find the spot where the shield contacts the rotor you can use a screw driver and push it in slightly. It only needs to move a fraction to clear the rotor.
Bleeding the brake system can create a soft pedal if it is not done right and air is allowed to enter the brake system but that should not happen if they know what they are doing.
Hardware is the little springs or metal rods and clips that holds the brake pad to the caliper. Some calipers have a more difficult design than others and when brakes have been replaced by DIY people or cheap quick brake places, it can be a good chance that the springs are not installed properly if the pedal is soft.
I have seen many different incorrectly installed brake pad springs through the years and it amazes me the amount of time and work the installer went through to install them the wrong way instead of the right way because it sure took a lot longer the way they did it then the right way.
But as I said, ceramics can be felt by the user to need more pedal pressure to bite compared to the older genuine pads.
