I have read more about the coils failing then seen it myself. But have had two failed recently.
It is a tough call if to replace all six in one swoop or do them piece meal. And it all depends on if you have it done at a dealer where they use Saab genuine parts pricing of $570.83 a pop or the more decent GM pricing since the same part can be found at other sources. It is after all a generic GM part with a suggested list price of $132.00 each.
If it is one of the three rear coils that have failed, I would probably suggest doing all three due to the insane location and work getting to them but if it is a front one, maybe just swap out the one alone.
Replacing spark plugs using the right ones is also crucial.
But who knows, maybe it is just a bad batch of gasoline or that they swapped from summer to winter blend and it takes awhile for the car to adopt.
