2010 9-3 SS / 200K Miles (long) Posted by EGD [Email] (#663) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EGD) on Sun, 1 Oct 2023 18:05:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Our 2010 9-3 2.0T Sport sedan with a 6-speed manual achieved 200K miles this afternoon.
It was bought new in late-October 2010 at Saab of Santa Ana and has been a great car for commuting, road trips, getting the kids to high school (and teaching them how to drive a stick), and then getting them to college. Numerous fond memories, etc. It has been maintained almost exclusively by Anders @ Swedecar except for two out-of-town oil changes.
The good: Still a fantastic car to drive, especially with the manual. Excellent mileage; burns no oil. CA car so no rust.
The bad: Some mechanical issues including no AC (was tough in the desert here this summer!), blend door chatter noise, a bad ECU (check engine light and slight misfire), two door lock actuators inoperative, and the dash cup holder is broke (meh…).
The ugly: The paint is totally trashed. Extensive clearcoat damage, one minor crease with deep scratches, and a huge ding from a baseball. Needs a full repaint. The front seats are torn and need new leather; carpet has a tear.
Debating just walking away from the car. Kids have threatened to disown me if I do but I can’t see dropping several thousand on the car at this point. Might just replace the door lock actuators from used parts and slowly sand and prime the paint. Refurb the ECU maybe. I can deal with no AC as we head into winter but I don’t want to suck up another summer with no AC. The only thing keeping me in the car are the absurd prices of replacements, new or used, and the fun it is to drive.
Keep and fix or give away?
