I just got my 9th SAAB - a 2011 9-3 Sport Combi AWD 6-speed! This car seems like a unicorn to me.
Over 20 years ago I left a note on a 1994 C900T commemorative edition convertible that said something like “If you will ever want to sell this car please call me.” I bought that car months later after getting the call.
Fast forward to 2023. I parked next to this car while running an errand. I noticed it is in great shape, looks newer, and I like the color. As is my habit I checked to see if it’s a manual, and it is! I really liked the car, so I left a similar note. 6 months later I own the car. The original owner went to an EV. I assumed Tesla. She got a Fisker.
My 2006 combi is the car I’ve owned longest in my life. 17 years and counting. We got it when my wife was pregnant and we thought we needed something with more doors than our 9-3 coupe or SPG. I took my kids home from the hospital when they were born in 2006. Now my 16-year-old will likely buy the older car and learn to drive manual on it.
It is a happy SAAB day in our house!
Randy
