Re: 9-3X intermittent shudder while driving at highway speeds Posted by GoldenSaab [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: 9-3X intermittent shudder while driving at highway speeds, GoldenSaab ![]() |
As a follow up to my original post about the "shudder" feeling I was asking about. It has finally been resolved and it did not involve the rear-wheel-drive system at all. It turned out to be the tires. They were original to the car and had 76,000 miles on them. Apparently, one has had a slipped or otherwise damaged belt for a year or so and on a recent trip I pulled into a rest area and when backing out the steering wheel was doing massive side to side movement of 1 to 2 inches. As I was close to home I drove on and the movement became less as I gained speed. The next day I had all 4 replaced with Michelin Defender2 tires. I've driven over 100 miles on the new tires since without any of the "shudder" sensation that had been so prevalent before.
