You all mostly have steered me toward staying with the I4 which I have had in 3 models since my first 1983 900s. All have been great except the 1994 900s gave me more trouble (not engine). Seems like the more reasonable thing to do. My Saab etch was a master tech at a dealer and gave me similar feelings. V6 is a good engine but harder to work on and more parts.

It seems that the Aero was only V6 until 2010? So that's my next question for you. How are the I4 2010-2011 9-3s? Any issues with those last couple years with newer interiors, etc.? They are great looking cars inside and out. I think I am OK not having an Aero if means staying with I4.

And my other follow-up is manual issues? The whole reason I am looking for this car is I want to drive a manual every day again. Just feels like I am driving again. The other Saabs were manuals but we bought the 9-5 in 1999 for my wife and seemed the better decision to go auto. Over past year I have also been driving a rare Acura ILX (2014) with the 6sp manual 2.4ltr Civic Si drivetrain and have just loved being back in a manual. One of my sons is buying it from me to take to college though. There are LOTS of autos out on the market but of course few manuals. So are there big concerns with say 2005-2011 manuals on the I4? BTW my 9-5 is still going but another son is driving it now. I would rather get another manual back in the family. No way going the BMW or Audi $$$ repairs route. Not much else out there in the under $10k range in manuals that aren't Kia, Focus, etc. I'm not a WRX guy. Appreciate them but not me. I really like the 9-3 manual idea.
