You have had very good luck with the Saab 4 cylinder engines, don't spoil that luck with a V6.
The V6 engine is a good reliable engine, But it has 3 times the number of parts vs. the B207.
Also many of the common parts for the V6 are expensive or NLA.
The B207 is a very durable, reliable and efficient engine. I own 2 of them with over 200k miles and they both run great.
Also the maintenance and repair work on the V6 is really difficult - just look at the procedures for replacing a thermostat or a crank position sensor. Both of these operations on the 4 cylinder are very simple. The 4 cylinder also gets much better fuel economy.
Can you tell I really like the B207? All of this info comes from my experience of 42 years as a professional;l Saab technician.
My advice would be to buy a 2010 or 2011 9-3 automatic, much nicer drive and more durable than the 6 speed manual.
Good Luck!
