i have a very specific problem on my 2003 9.3 linear...kind of long:

at ~1800 miles the car starting performing poorly when accelerating between 40-60 mph...upon accelarating after cruising speed in this range. the tubo needle jumps up, but the car takes many seconds to catch up with itself and has a low grumble within this band; unless i jam on the gas...then she goes. it seems less of a problem the colder the air temp. is outside.

i have installed a new j&r air filter (which has seemed to help a bit) and a new sport exhaust (from cat back...no difference except for the more throuty sound). the car has 10100 miles and i have done an oil change at every 5k (mobile 1 5w30). i have also used chevron concentrated gas additive at 3500 and 9000 miles. i have had a couple of computer upgrades, but nothing...the dealer says this is normal linear ss performance...if so this is terrible.

i guess my question(s) are:

1. is this temp. related...out of spec. sensor(s)?
2. is this a turbo related thing?
3. is this a design thing?
4. is this a not enough engine cooling thing?
5. is this a transmission thing?
6. is this a fuel system thing?
7. is this a software thing?
8. is this a combo. of things?

this is my 3rd saab (1st new one) and i am already thinking about getting rid of this one; because of this and other car as well as dealership quality issues. my 95 900s and 97 9000cse (both bought used) were much better cars. is this the fate of saab under the dome of GM...i hope not!

thanks for any insight,

dan

p.s. not very important to my customer quality wowes, but as a degreed/12
year practicing mechanical design engineer (although not in the auto industry)am i just being to picky/anal?
