It's not all straighaways. The new 9-3 Aero chassis is soooo much better. And while the new 210hp motor may not have the low end kick of the HOT engine in your SE, there's pure joy over 4,500 rpm's whereas your HOT motor is beginning to gasp a little about then. No contest in an automatic, no reduced torque for the auto and the paddle shift 5-speed Sentronic is slick.
The joy of the SE powerband was there for everyone down low. Take time to explore the top of the Aero powerband and you'll see Saab has more than made up for that. It's somewhat tough to do in someone else's brand new car, but see if the salesperson will let you wring it out a little. Saab Trionic is also pretty adaptive and a fresh, tight, new car won't be ramped up to respond to a heavy foot as well as after break-in.
And it's been said that the 6 speed Aero needs a shift before 60mph so the 0-60 doesn't look as good.
