Just my two cents...
My girlfriend has a '02 225hp TT Roadster...I have a '02 9-3 SE CV. After driving both cars, its ironic, she likes mine better, I prefer hers.
The TT is much more fun to drive...amazing traction, more steering feel, and a much more fun engine. The Saab has a much more comfortable ride, and obviously much more room. To me, the TT seems faster off the line and seems to have much more power.
Unless you're going to get a Boxster S don't bother -- the base Boxster seemed slow when compared to the Saab. As soon as my lease is up on my CV, I'll be putting the Boxster S in the driveway next to her TT. The only problem we're going to run into then, is we won't have a car to go grocery shopping in - no space at all in either roadster. From a practical standpoint, we use the Saab almost all the time, as it has more room, is more comfortable, and then we can bring the dog with us.
The 9-3 convertible and the TT are two totally different beasts - its hard to compare the two of them. They're both great cars, and I don't think you'd be disapointed with either one.
