The SAAB turbo oil is Euro Mobil 1 0W-30 Long Life. It is a first rate oil. Many manufactures in Europle have long drain intervals like the SAAB does know. Castrol has 0W-30 SLX II and Mobil has their 0W-30 LL. I have done a UOA on my oil already. The SAAB oil has one of the highest TBN counts of any oil on the market. Here is my UOA

Aluminum...2
Chromium...0
Iron...6
Copper...1
Lead...0
Tin...2
Molybdenum....0
Nickel...0
Manganese...0
Silver...0
Titanuim...0
Potassium...0
Boron...194
Silcon...5
Sodium...3
Calcium...3208
Magnesium...207
Phosphorus...941
Zinc...1064
Barium...0

Viscosity...56.9
Flashpount...370
Fuel...0.8
Antifreeze...0
Water...0
Insolubles...0.4

TBN...9.3

We tend to find high wear and silcon in new engines such as your SAAB. The fact that we didn't find either here shows that your engine is wearing in quite nicely and has no mechanical problems to speak of. We did a little fuel in the oil, which is also a common find in new engines. Its typically there because the rings are still seating. It has lowered the viscosity a bit, but we think the fuel will disappear and the viscosity will return to normal in the next sample. Feel free to run your oil longer

I drained the factory fill at 3,000 and took this UOA at 6,000 just to see. If you plan on keeping your car for awhile, I would drain the factory fill and 5,000 and then stick to the 8,000-15,000 SAAB's OCI. This oil is the real deal.

I was just told by my parts manager that SAAB will stop imported the 0W-30 into the US do to the rate exchange with the Kroner. They will be using Mobil 1 0W-40 only. This viscosity is not shear stable. I will use Delvac 1 5W-40 before I use Mobil 1 0W-40. Not all Mobil 1 oils are created equal.
