The recommendation in the door jamb is correct for high speed and fully loaded, and wouldn't hurt any thing slower or lighter, except maybe the ride. The owners manual has a lower recommendation for slower speeds and lighter loads and I'm sure the ride will be somewhat better and probably more than adequate for pothole protection. The 16's are much rounder through the sidewall and the rim is not so close to the edge besides being 20% taller.
