You'll never get the die hard stick drivers to relent, but IMO the Sentronic in the Aero with the shift paddles is a decent compromise. When you want to be in a particular gear for a particular situation, whether it's 1st for poking around parking lots or 3rd for your favorite 100mph offramp, it'll work.
One advantage to Sentronic shifting, as practiced at the 9-5 Aero Academy, is that it avoids a whole range of damage and trauma to the car. Overevving during downshifts and maybe blowing up the engine, missing shifts and the subsequent loss of control at the limit, burning clutches, grinding gears, all this goes away with a good sequential automatic.
