Now that I have done this a bunch in the last week it is really not necessary to remove the heated seat button. But in doing so you get a little more room to see and work on the sensor. Take a small flat head screw driver and litely start to pry out the button, careful to not scratch the dash. It will come loose very easily and then you can pull the rest of the way by hand, just let it hang there out of your way. Also, my car has a blank button on the other side which can pop loose in the same manner.
The circular center button can be pulled with your fingers once the other two are out of the way. That leaves the sensor, which actually pushes into the dash and comes out below.
But first you have to remove the plastic cubby holder or asytray that is just below the heated seat buttons. A firm pull while prying the side will pop that out.
The sensor is held by a plastic snap at the top and bottom as it faces you. Use the screw driver to release the bottom snap while pushing in on the sensor housing. Snake your other hand in through the cubby whole and pull the sensor from the back side at the same time. Then just guide it down and to the left an few inches and unplug the power connector to it.
Clean, lube and re-insert.
FYI. If you clean and lube it and plug it in to test it while it is still hanging there, then decide to place it back onto the dash. The fan will still run even after you remove the key. It is on some sort of delay timer, not sure how long. You can still put it in but now have to be careful to not pinch your finger in the fan while pushing it in the dash form the back side.
