The fluid pumps right through these ABS units, you don't do anything special. Engine turned off. The only thing about ABS is that it causes the bleeding order to be different. If you DO get air bubbles in there, they seem to take longer (more fluid) before they work out from the ABS unit.
Bleeding order has to do with which circuit is more likely to push air bubbles into which other circuit. With the ABS unit, that's more about plumbing details, not so much about distance to the wheel.
