I have a '95 9000 V6 auto and I must say I prefer the 2.3T. I has more punch, more performance and it is more reliable. With motre than 204000km, the car it has minor problems during the first 170000km, but since then the timing belt it demonstrates that it is its weak point, it was replaced 3 times during his last 20000km, first of all, for a broken pulley, secondly because the new timing belt was defective, and finally for a problem with the water pump, but i must say the engine is incredibly strong, during 2000km the was working erraticly and with no signs of overhating, then with 202000km the timing belt, jumped because the steering pump brocked and i was travelling 30km without steering assistance, cooling system and so and only the radiator broked, this happened because the pulley was there, no overhating signs and I decided to go arrive at the dealer, when I arrived the radiator broked....the engine didn't suffer any damage.

THe V6 block it is incredibly strong, but the timing belt system and the accessories that works with the engine are his weak points. I must say that the 99 9-5 2.3t auto of my father had the common problems of those 9-5, trionic, throttle unit,SID, batteries and other minor problems with 210000km it works better than the 9000 v6, the 9000 it needs to push hard and over 4000rpm to have good performance, the sound of the engine it is incredible.

THe 2.8 V6l it isn't new for Saab, remember the 9-3x....it is the same engine, Saab is working with this engine during years, with the twin scroll turbo, SCC, it is the EcopowerII.

Greetings
