So I just got a call from my mechanic stating that I had blown fuse #17, I'm not sure what it does, but it appearingly does a whole lot. The thing is, when they put this fuse and start up my car, it starts fine, but when they put the gears in "drive" (mine is automatic), the fuse blows... WTF?
Anyway, they said that most likely it is my "neutral safety switch" which only allows the car to start in "park" or "neutral" position that went out on me...
They said it kindda happens to older car, but never seen it on 00 car.
What do you all think? they gave me a quote of $500 to fix it half way (only start in "park") or $650 to fix it the right way (start in "park" and "neutral"). I can see I need to start in "neutral" if I have to have my car jump start (start while being pushed in "neutral" gear), but is it worth it?
Of course this happened right after my 60K service and out of warranty :(
