It's supposed to interlock the starter when an automatic transmission is in gear. Put in D or R & try to start... the starter isn't supposed to crank. Another feature is there's supposed to be solenoid locks that prevent you from shifting OUT of park unless you're standing on the brake pedal. All this stuff to save us from ourselves...
So... I guess what they're saying is part of this system is farbed up, so it blows its fuse when you shift into drive??
The manual-transmission version of this 'feature' prevents you from cranking the starter unless the clutch pedal is pressed down.
