Just had a very similar experience. Lady backs into my parked 2000 SE. First she wants to blame my son for not warning her (he wasn't even in the car when it happened), then didn't want to report it to the police because she thought it would be < $1,000 (wrong), then after I got an estimate ($1,800) wanted me to take it to a friend of her's who has an auto body shop and not involve her insurance company.
Wrong on all counts. I wanted to be a nice guy, but not to the point where I am going to fund her problem with my car (or pocketbook).
Report the crash, get your car fixed by a good shop, and drive on....
Jay
(driving a rental SUV for a few days compliments of her insurance company...and very much looking forward to getting my "quirky" Saab back!)
