Just bought a "new" 2001 9-5 Aero. I was fortunate enough to get the car with 4 new BBS 2-pc. wheels and 4 new Dunlop SP tires, but this combination isn't really appropriate for Upstate NY in the winter.

I've always gone to steel wheels (ugly, but strong) and Nokia Hakkapelitta snows. Did this on the old 9000T, same for wife's current 9-5 wagon.

The smallest diameter wheels that can go on the Aero are 16", I'm pretty sure. Are there any viable alternatives to those funky Saab steel wheels?
The parts guy I have known for ages thinks that given the really awful condition of the local roads, the dowdy-but-functional route is best for the winter. He see lots of bent-up alloys come through the shop as the result of Saab vs. Pothole matches. What about a slightly used set of alloys?

I've got to wait for a snow-less stretch to go and pick up my new Aero maybe sometime next week; then it's right to the dealer for the snows. I know I can probably get the wheels and tires a tiny bit cheaper elsewhere, but I get a pretty decent discount and a free loaner, etc.
