The dead oil pressure light has probably been there for a longer time but you didn't noticed it before since the car started up every time.
"most" people don't notice when the oil pressure sending unit dies due to that when you turn the ignition on before starting the car it is a million freaking lights illuminated on the dash and who cares if it is one less.
When the car starts they all go out anyway.
No, your car doesn't have a low oil pressure cut out switch.
I suspect that it might be the CranK shaft Position sensor (CKP sensor) that is starting to fail.
That sensor goes dead with rising engine temperature.
If it happens again, open the hood to speed up engine cool down time and try to start the car after 10-15 min. If it starts right up I fairly sure it is that sensor.
You can do a search for that sensor and find plenty of information.
