For the most part, defective hard parts don't last 70k. If it was defective from the get go it probably would have failed long ago. At 70k I would suspect that the headgasket has been done, perhaps there was a reassembly issue there? I would look for other problems too, especially sludge related oil issues. Hopefully you are the original owner and have service records. I am sure alot of fly by night " car salesman" are going to be buying up these cars with engine issues and then telling unsuspecting consumers that Saab will fix any engine problem under warranty. Let this be a heads up to all of you out there. Beware of guys out there hacking together 2 cars to make one good one and expecting Saab to perform warranty repairs. We've seen it happen, get all service records in hand before buying and always remember" if it seems to good to be tru, it probably is"
