That may be a stage II faiure mode when the crankcase pressure gets high. High presure could be from loose head bolts and gases blowing into oil passages, or blowby past pistons/rings. But clearly then there is a primary cause, one being possibly all of the loose head bolts that we see. Sludge can kill the piston cooling jets. Rings can stuck, both lube oil related.
