Hello, I am a first time Saab owner, Finally. I fell in love with Saab in Sweden when I was hitch hiking. The head engineer of Saab actually drove me from Gothenburg to Stockholm airport, in time to to catch my flight. I was hitch hiking and he was explaining the Turbo while driving high speeds on the highway. I was in love. So 8 years later I found a great deal on a 2000 9-5 Aero, with 74,000km. The problem is, oil was only changed every 8,000 and no other maintenance was performed. I would like to know in detail what I should do, as I plan to drive this car for 10 years. It's currently using Mobil 1 synthetic oil since 2002. I was thinking of changing the oil after 1000 km to clean it up a bit, then every at every 4000km. The engine bay is covered in dirt and salt. I don't have the sevice manual, and can't find it online as of yet. Could you please share your tips and preventive maintenance ideas. What is a good spark plug to use on this car? Any brake/rotors who know are best? Thanks for reading. And I look forward to contributing to this amazing website once I learn more about Saab cars.
