If SAAB required a DIC change comparable to a timing chain interval, I would be fine with that.
Some timing chain intervals are as low as 60,000 miles, but I'll bet that the manufacturer expects 99.997% of it's timing chains to last at least 60,000 miles. Some may go 120,000 miles.
Too many SAAB DIC's fail far too early (<25,000 miles) for anybody responsible for their manufacture to consider their design acceptable.
