On the automatics, there is a built-in (intentional) throttle delay (apart from and in addition to the turbo lag)which you can really feel in hard driving--after you floor it. I drive a standard but just came back from Aero Academy, where we drove all automatics. Lots of aggressive driving, to say the least. The throttle delay frustrated me as it is not present in the standard. Saab confirmed that this is built into the automatic to reduce jerkiness when changing throttle input. The standard definitely jumps off the line quicker. Once you're moving though, I'm not sure there's much of a difference.
