I recently bought a 99 9-5 SE 4cyl, but I test drove several cars with both the 2.3t and the 3.0t. The V6 definitely has more power and torque across the power band, but I could not discern where the boost became a factor, probably because (like the 2.3 LPT) it is available across such a wide range. I seriously considered the V6 but ended up going with the 2.3t because of lower replacement part costs and the fact that is has a timing chain rather than a belt (just personal preference). The V6 seems like a decent engine, but I think the comparison that may serve you better in making your choice is with the Aero motor rather than the LPT, the latter of which does not (to me at least) seem to have a particular turbo-engine character to it.
