Having had two out of ten Saabs since 1999 with oil sludge problems (one with less than 30 K miles), I have learned the hard way.
Take a tip. Use Amsoil. This oil really can stand the high heat of turbos and long interval oil changes. Far better than Mobil 1. Amsoil invented synthetic oil and has lifetime warranties on your car for oil related mechanical failure.
I concur it is not Saab's fault. The fault lies with the locals who think they can run dino oil or semi synth.
