The ABS sees the caliper at a passive component, but it also makes some assiumptions about caliper response that is hard coded into its controller. So changing the pressure/volume response of the calipers might not be the best for the ABS response. Changing from rubber to SS braided brake lines also have such effects.
Big calipers might feel better and require less petal pressure, but you should not have any expectations of shorter stopping distances. Stopping distances are controlled by what the ABS can get out of the tires, so the tires are the limiting factor. Max performance tires will shorten stopping distances. Big brakes can disapate heat better, so they have an advange on the track or other severe repeated braking situations where heat becomes the limiting factor.
A trick brake kit might limit what pads you can get. If you are stuck with track pads on the street, the braking with cold pads and rotors might simply be dangerous.
So, you want better tires before getting big brakes. Otherwise, you can't expect any improvements in stopping distance.
