I have a 2001 9 5 Aero, 44,000 miles. Just suffered the DI failure and it was not fun. Covered under warranty and lost the car for two days primarily due to difficuly getting car towed during snow/ice event.
I have had 4 Saabs since 1983, 900, 900S and 93 and now the 9 5. All driven well over 100K. Typically I think these cars are pretty reliable, equal or better than the Volvos I have had as my other "family" car and even with the DI failure I think the 95 Aero is a terrific car. Perhaps, like some others, I will start to carry a spare DI so I am not stranded.

A couple of other points, for peace of mind strongly consider a dealer certified car. As to performance in snow the 9 5 Aero is fine. I am in CT and have had lots of chances to drive in snow the last couple of months. Have Goodyear Ultragrip snows mounted on set of alloys and while I do not like them as much as Blizzaks the car is very good in snow. Combination of snow tires and traction control is more than enough to drive with confidence in snowy New England.
