Saab has recently (within past year) stopped providing the long belt as a service part because the center idler pulley is so difficult to change. The short belt allows the center pulley to be abondoned in place or removed upon or before failure, but it doesn't need to be replaced (which is almost impossible with engine in the car). Parts catalogs at most auto part stores may still list only the long belt.
Go with the short belt (search on this board for the part number) and you never need to touch the center pulley. The two belts are identical in construction, only difference is length.
